P&G Unveils Ariel Automatic in Nigeria
P&G’s flagship laundry brand, Ariel – a world-class brand with an innovative pedigree – has announced the launch of Ariel Automatic powder to help Nigerians experience brilliant stain removal in 1 Wash with their automatic washing machines.
Ariel has decades of experience in the research and development of washing machine detergents and the new product is recommended by LG, the number one washing machine manufacturer in Nigeria. Ariel Automatic has been specifically formulated for automatic washing machines, with 2X more stain-fighting ingredients than traditional hand wash detergent.
Partnering with leading fashion designer, Folake Folarin-Coker, the launch of NEW Ariel Automatic unveiled an exclusive, cutting-edge washable line under her Tiffany Amber label, inspired by Ariel and the Perfect Match concept.
“I am proud to be associated with a global, leading brand that is also conscious of trends in African fashion. My designs have always reflected an eclectic mix of European and African influences, and with this line, these are combined in an expression of ‘the perfect match.’ Thanks to Ariel, I can also be confident that these garments will stay beautiful for longer, even as they are washed and cared for at home,” said Folarin-Coker.
Ariel has also partnered with the Vlisco Group’s Woodin brand to understand trends in African fabrics and thereby deliver cleaning that also protects and enhances the continent’s unique style.
“The Woodin brand is inspired by African culture and it is constantly evolving to define a new African fashion identity. We are excited to partner with Ariel to deliver our fans a cleaning solution that can keep their treasured Vlisco fabrics beautiful,” said Adaeze Alilonu, Marketing Manager, Vlisco Fabrics.
Speaking at the event, P&G Nigeria Commercial and Brand Director, Ehinomen Enekabor, said that: “Ariel believes that innovation starts with the consumer. We gain insights into people’s everyday lives, so that we can combine ‘what’s needed’ with ‘what’s possible’, through the latest technology and innovation. With more and more Nigerians investing in automatic washing machines, it is important that Ariel is able to offer them a world-class product, specifically designed for this purpose.”
She added that, “Ariel’s partnership with Ms Coker and with Vlisco Fabrics enables us to stay abreast of current industry trends in textile and fabric innovation, where imagination and technology combine to produce exciting new fashions. This further strengthens our ability to deliver Nigerians a product that will be the ‘perfect match’ for their style.”

“Ariel’s 3-Step Fibre Science works deep down at a fibre level to clean, protect and enhance the sensorial qualities of clothes (the look, feel and scent). Ariel Automatic allows you to achieve the highest standard of clean in 1 Wash, while protecting your clothes and providing freshness throughout the day,” she said.
Explaining the importance of using the correct detergent she added that: “Regular hand wash detergent is less effective in machines because it produces too much foam, which may delay the washing cycle, reduce cleaning effectiveness and prevent proper rinsing. NEW Ariel Automatic is the perfect match for your washing machine to deliver brilliant cleaning results.”

NEW ARIEL AUTOMATIC WILL KEEP YOUR CLOTHES BEAUTIFUL FOR LONGER
The highest standard of cleaning in ONE wash – now for Automatic
Ariel understands that sometimes we fall out of love with our favourite item of clothing, and most of the time we don’t know why, but this is what Ariel Fibre Scientists study. We know that our senses work together to influence our perception of the beauty of our clothes (their look, feel and scent) making an unconscious decision to accept or reject them. Wash after wash, clothes can lose the look, feel and smell that we used to adore, so we start to relegate them to the back of our wardrobe. Therefore it is crucial that fabric care not only cleans our clothes (that goes without saying), BUT it should also protect and enhance them so that our favourite garments can stay favourites by prolonging their look, feel and freshness
Ariel Automatic works deep down at a fibre level to clean, protect, and enhance the sensorial qualities of your clothes (their look, feel and scent) and remove tough stains in ONE WASH. It redefines what it means to care for fashion with unique Fibre Science technologies that allow you to achieve the highest standard of clean to keep your fashions beautiful for longer.
What Is Special About Ariel Automatic?
Ariel has 45 years of experience in the research and development of washing machine detergents and the new product is recommended by LG, the number one washing machine manufacturer in Nigeria.
NEW Ariel Automatic has been specifically designed for washing machines and is recommended by LG, the number one washing machine manufacturer in Nigeria. Ariel Automatic has been specifically formulated for automatic washing machines, with 2X more stain-fighting ingredients than traditional hand wash detergent.
Ariel’s advanced formula provides outstanding stain removal because it is specially formulated to tackle greasy stains and the other common soils.
What makes it so special is that this formula includes a cleaning booster which is exclusive to P&G. This cleaning booster helps to protect fibres from stain re-deposition which means it prevents stains and soils in the washing water going back on the fabric during the wash. If this happens it can create what we call a ‘grey veil’ on your fabrics – turning whites dingy and dulling your colours.
Ariel’s advanced formula not only provides a deep clean in one wash it actually helps to protect against future stains because it includes special stain prevention molecules that coat the fibres and gives them a greater ability to resist new soils, protecting and enhancing the sensorial qualities (look, feel and scent) of the clothes you love.
Ariel: Innovating for 45+ years
Over the past 45 years, Ariel has continually innovated to always provide laundry solutions that simplify the laundry process and everyday consumer life. Just as consumer needs are evolving, so is Ariel. Did you know Ariel introduced its first powder detergent in 1967 in Western Germany?

If I was asked to use just one makeup product before leaving home...It will be KAJAL
Kajal, also known as kohl, is one makeup essential we just can’t do without. Whether you’re a happy-go-lucky college girl in your teens or a gradually-maturing working girl in your twenties, you can’t imagine stepping out of your house without highlighting your eyes with a line of dark kajal. A single sweep of this wonder-product adds definition to your eyes and infuses them with vivacious, delightful charm. In minutes, your eyes look bigger, brighter and more defined. That’s why girls all around the world love kajal, because a sweep of it can leave you with eye-catching peepers that speak volumes!
However, getting those lines right might not always be an easy task. Haven’t we all had to deal with smudges & blotches? Well, now you can bid these mistakes goodbye as this article furnishes some smart tips on how to apply kajal perfectly. Get picture perfect eyes with these kajal applying tips.
How to Apply Kajal Perfectly On Eyes:
Applying kajal can be tricky. Thick, uneven lines morph your eye shape and take away from the beauty of your eyes. We could all use a couple of tips on how to apply kajal without smudging. Here are a couple of tips on the right ways to apply kajal.
- Before you begin applying kajal, ensure that your eyes are clean, devoid of left-over kajal or eye makeup. For everyday wear, you needn’t worry about prepping your eyes with concealer. However, if you are to attend a party, apply a bit of concealer on your under-eye area to cover up blemishes or dark circles.
- Another good kajal applying tip is to focus on applying kajal on your waterline as this will give your eyes an intense look. However, if your eyes tend to water uncontrollably or if you wear lenses, apply kajal on your lower lash line instead of on your waterline.
- Here is a good tip on how to apply kajal under eyes. Use your left hand to pull down your under-eye area gently and expose your waterline. Now, begin applying kajal, starting from the outer corner of your eye and moving inwards towards your tear duct area. Apply kajal in repetitive, short strokes as this imparts more colour to your waterline and will also prevent your lines from going askew. Rest your hand on your cheeks for extra support.
- Once you’ve finished applying kajal, it’s time to take steps to increase the staying power of your kajal and to prevent it from smudging. To do this, apply a bit of black, matte, powder eye shadow along your lower lash lines. Use a flat brush for doing this so that you don’t apply too much eye shadow. The powdery eye shadow will stick to the creamy kajal and prevent it from spreading or fading.
- Lastly, plump up your lashes by applying two coats of the Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara, The One Volume Blast Mascara or any other one of your choice. This step need not be followed for daily wear. However, do follow this step when decking up for a party. Do have a great day!!!

Health Benefits of Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is one of the few foods that can be classified as a “superfood.” Its unique combination of fatty acids can have profound positive effects on health.
This includes fat loss, better brain function and various other amazing benefits.
Here are the top 10 health benefits of coconut oil that have been experimentally confirmed in human studies.
1. Coconut Oil Contains a Unique Combination of Fatty Acids With Powerful Medicinal Properties
Coconut oil has been demonized in the past because it contains saturated fat. In fact, coconut oil is one of the richest sources of saturated fat known to man, with almost 90% of the fatty acids in it being saturated.
However, new data is showing that saturated fats are harmless. Many massive studies that include hundreds of thousands of people prove that the whole “artery-clogging” idea was merely a myth. Additionally, coconut oil doesn’t contain your average run-of-the-mill saturated fats like you would find in cheese or steak. No, they contain so-called Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs) – which are fatty acids of a medium length. Most of the fatty acids in the diet are long-chain fatty acids, but the medium-chain fatty acids in coconut oil are metabolized differently.
They go straight to the liver from the digestive tract, where they are used as a quick source energy or turned into so-called ketone bodies, which can have therapeutic effects on brain disorders like epilepsy and Alzheimer’s.

They go straight to the liver from the digestive tract, where they are used as a quick source energy or turned into so-called ketone bodies, which can have therapeutic effects on brain disorders like epilepsy and Alzheimer’s.
Bottom Line: Coconut oil contains a lot of medium chain triglycerides, which are metabolized differently and can have therapeutic effects on several brain disorders.
2. Populations That Eat a LOT of Coconut Are Among The Healthiest People on The Planet
Coconut is kind of an “exotic” food in the Western world, primarily consumed by health conscious people. However, in some parts of the world, coconut is a dietary staple that people have thrived on for many generations. The best example of such a population is the Tokelauans, which live in the South Pacific. They eat over 60% of their calories from coconuts and are the biggest consumers of saturated fat in the world. These people are in excellent health, with no evidence of heart disease. Another example of a population that eats a lot of coconut and remains in excellent health is the Kitavans.
Bottom Line: Plenty of populations around the world have thrived for multiple generations eating massive amounts of coconut.
3. Coconut Oil Can Increase Your Energy Expenditure, Helping You Burn More Fat
Obesity is currently one of the biggest health problems in the world.
While some people think obesity is only a matter of calories, others (myself included) believe that the sources of those calories are critical too. It is a fact that different foods affect our bodies and hormones in different ways. In this regard, a calorie is NOT a calorie.
The medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) in coconut oil can increase energy expenditure compared to the same amount of calories from longer chain fats. One study found that 15-30 grams of MCTs per day increased 24 hour energy expenditure by 5%, totalling about 120 calories per day.

Bottom Line: The medium chain triglycerides in coconut oil have been shown to increase 24 hour energy expenditure by as much as 5%, potentially leading to significant weight loss over the long term.
4. The Lauric Acid in Coconut Oil Can Kill Bacteria, Viruses and Fungi, Helping to Stave Off Infections
Almost 50% of the fatty acids in coconut oil is the 12-carbon Lauric Acid.
When coconut oil is enzymatically digested, it also forms a monoglyceride called monolaurin.
Both lauric acid and monolaurin can kill harmful pathogens like bacteria, viruses and fungi. For example, these substances have been shown to kill the bacteria Staphylococcus Aureus (a very dangerous pathogen) and the yeast Candida Albicans, a common source of yeast infections in humans.
Bottom Line: The fatty acids and breakdown products in coconut oil can kill harmful pathogens, potentially helping to prevent infections.
5. Coconut Oil Can Kill Your Hunger, Making You Eat Less Without Even Trying
One interesting feature of coconut oil is that it can reduce your hunger.
This may be related to the way the fatty acids in it are metabolized, because ketone bodies can have an appetite reducing effect. In one study, varying amounts of medium and long chain triglycerides were fed to 6 healthy men. The men eating the most MCTs ate 256 fewer calories per day, on average.
Another study in 14 healthy men discovered that those who ate the most MCTs at breakfast ate significantly fewer calories at lunch.
These studies were small and only done for a short period of time. If this effect were to persist over the long term, it could have a dramatic influence on body weight over a period of several years.
Bottom Line: The fatty acids in coconut oil can significantly reduce appetite, which may positively affect body weight over the long term.
6. The Fatty Acids in Coconut Oil Are Turned into Ketones, Which Can Reduce Seizures
A so-called ketogenic (very low carb, very high fat) diet is currently being studied to treat various disorders. The best known therapeutic application of this diet is treating drug-resistant epilepsy in children. This diet involves eating very little carbohydrates and large amounts of fat, leading to greatly increased concentrations of ketone bodies in the blood.
For some reason, this diet can dramatically reduce the rate of seizures in epileptic children, even those who haven’t had success with multiple different types of drugs. Because the MCTs in coconut oil get shipped to the liver and turned into ketone bodies, they are often used in epileptic patients to induce ketosis while allowing for a bit more carbs in the diet
Bottom Line: The MCTs in coconut oil can increase blood concentration of ketone bodies, which can help reduce seizures in epileptic children.
7. Coconut Oil Can Improve Blood Cholesterol Levels and May Lower Your Risk of Heart Disease
Coconut oil is loaded with saturated fats, which actually do not harm the blood lipid profile like previously thought. Saturated fats raise HDL (the good) cholesterol and change the LDL cholesterol to a benign subtype. In one study in 40 women, coconut oil reduced Total and LDL cholesterol while increasing HDL compared to soybean oil. There are also rat studies showing that coconut oil reduces triglycerides, total and LDL cholesterol, increases HDL and improves blood coagulation factors and antioxidant status. This improvement in cardiovascular risk factors should theoretically lead to a reduced risk of heart disease over the long term.
Bottom Line: Studies in both humans and rats show that coconut oil improves important risk factors like Total, LDL and HDL cholesterol, which may translate to a reduced risk of heart disease.
8. Coconut Oil Can Protect Hair Against Damage, Moisturize Skin and Function as Sunscreen
Coconut oil can serve various purposes that have nothing to do with eating it. Many people are using it for cosmetic purposes and to improve the health and appearance of their skin and hair. Studies on individuals with dry skin show that coconut oil can improve the moisture and lipid content of the skin. Coconut oil can also be very protective against hair damage and one study shows effectiveness as sunscreen, blocking about 20% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Another application is using it like mouthwash in a process called oil pulling, which can kill some of the harmful bacteria in the mouth, improve dental health and reduce bad breath.
Bottom Line: Coconut oil can be applied topically as well, studies showing it to be effective as a skin moisturizer and protecting against hair damage. It can also be used as a mild form of sunscreen and as mouthwash.
9. The Fatty Acids in Coconut Oil Can Boost Brain Function in Alzheimer’s Patients
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia worldwide and occurs primarily in elderly individuals. In Alzheimer’s patients, there appears to be a reduced ability to use glucose for energy in certain parts of the brain. Ketone bodies can supply energy for the brain and researchers have speculated that ketones can provide an alternative energy source for these malfunctioning cells and reduce symptoms of Alzheimer’s. In one 2006 study, consumption of medium chain triglycerides led to immediate improvement in brain function in patients with milder forms of Alzheimer’s. Other studies support these findings and medium chain triglycerides are being intensively studied as potential therapeutic agents in Alzheimer’s disease.
Bottom Line: Studies show that the fatty acids in coconut oil can increase blood levels of ketone bodies, supplying energy for the brain cells of Alzheimer’s patients and relieving symptoms.
10. Coconut Oil Can Help You Lose Fat, Especially The Dangerous Fat in Your Abdominal Cavity
Given that coconut oil can reduce appetite and increase fat burning, it makes sense that it can also help you lose weight. Coconut oil appears to be especially effective in reducing abdominal fat, which lodges in the abdominal cavity and around organs.
This is the most dangerous fat of all and is highly associated with many Western diseases. Waist circumference is easily measured and is a great marker for the amount of fat in the abdominal cavity. A study in 40 women with abdominal obesity, supplementing with 30ml (1 ounce) of coconut oil per day lead to a significant reduction in both BMI and waist circumference in a period of 12 weeks.
Another study in 20 obese males noted a reduction in waist circumference of 2.86 cm (1.1 inches) after 4 weeks of 30 mL (1 ounce) of coconut oil per day. This number may not seem too impressive on the surface, but be aware that these people aren’t adding exercise or restricting calories. They’re losing significant amounts of abdominal fat simply by adding coconut oil to their diet.
